Fasth finished 2nd to David Duval in the 2001 Open Championship, his highest finish in a major thus far. He played for Europe in the 2002 Ryder Cup. He had good seasons in 2005 and 2006, winning twice on the European Tour in both years.  In 2007, he finished fourth in the US Open championship. The week after, he won his sixth European Tour event, the BMW International Open. He has featured in the top 20 of the Official World Golf Rankings.
