Gray played as a striker for Everton from 1983-1985. In two seasons he won the FA Cup, the League Championship and the European Cup Winners' Cup. He also played for Dundee Utd, Aston Villa, Wolves, West Brom and Glasgow Rangers. He was capped 20 times for Scotland.
