Molinari turned professional in 2006. He had his first win on the European Tour in July 2010 when he won the Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond. In November 2009 he and his younger brother Francesco gave Italy their first ever World Cup win at the Omega Missions World Cup in China. Both brothers also represented Europe at the 2010 Ryder Cup.
